Honesty Is the Best Policy

As a teenager I learned: Honesty is the best policy.

One night my buddy and I decided to borrow my dad’s car. It was parked a half block away in a garage. We quietly rolled it out, took off and we were on our way. We headed out into the farming area on the dirt roads and hit a few mud puddles that splashed mud on the car. We quietly took the car back home to the garage and really thought we had gotten away with it. HOWEVER, my dad saw the mud on the car and it did not take him long to figure out what had happened.

We sometimes in business think we get away with taking advantage of a customer, when in fact we are soon found out. They tell their friends and their friends tell their friends. You will pay in the long run — plenty.
